Dinosaur? Bird? Dinosaur bird? My husband and I couldn’t decide. I’ve been driving past this driftwood sculpture along the river for weeks, thinking what a nice photo op it would make. Last week, we finally decided to stop the car and check it out.
Earlier this week, I posted some thoughts about minimalism, busyness, and aligning priorities with values in my life. It’s a continuing effort (and will remain one), but I had a nice chance to put my thoughts into action by deciding to stop the car for the dinosaur bird. Even though on this particular day I would have rather continued on my way home, my husband and I took advantage of a little free time to go check it out.
And I was glad we did. It was a great photo op and the impromptu adventure brightened my mood and my day.
This post was inspired by the “No Time to Waste” prompt this week. I especially enjoyed these other takes on this prompt: a reminder that it’s okay to waste time too from LifeInFrame and a reminder to make time for those we love from Summer’s Third Wind.
Looks like a fish with legs…:)-

I love the black and whites… But then, I love black and white!
A few weeks ago, I was walking past a marching band’s practice session, and I stopped to watch their performance only because I had my baby with me and it was “good for her.” They were really good, and it made me sad how many things like this I’ve been missing, when I was walking around without a baby strapped to my chest!

Thank you! I love black and white too and worry occasionally that I use it too much. It does make me appreciate the pops of color all the more though. Especially fall colors like this. And I too am realizing how much more care I take to introduce new experiences for my son’s sake. Our lives have gotten a bit more interesting in our effort to stimulate him!

Love this! When I was a kid we spent a lot of time at the beach in the summer, and one of my uncles would always lead all the kids in the creation of a beach sculpture made from driftwood and kelp. Nothing as fancy as the dinosaur bird, but your post reminded me of those good times.

How creative, Tricia! I’m not sure who made this one. It just appeared one day. But I like to think of it as a public service of sorts. It gives us a fun, whimsical feeling when we drive by and imagine who made it and why. Maybe your sculptures as a kid did the same for someone else!
